Bob Topley

Bob was an active optician and contact lens practitioner, running a successful practice in Red Deer. He spent untold hours promoting the education of contact lens practitioners across North America. Topper was the director responsible for contact lens education for the Alberta Opticians Association. He achieved fellow status in the Contact Lens Society of America in 1981. Bob was a director of that Society and the chair of the Membership Committee. He was also a founder of the AGOOD Golf Tournament.More importantly, Bob was always up for a new challenge. He approached every job with a smile on his face and a will to succeed. Topper showed that he cared about the tasks he took on, he cared about his family, friends and the people with whom he worked. We cared about Bob and honoured him with our respect. Bob Topley fondly known as “Topper” by his many friends and associates passed away suddenly as a result of a heart attack in Calgary on Friday August 13, 1999 at the age of 50 years.
